our company values

Tree City Tax Service's mission is to provide equal access to financial literacy and tax support among the neuro-queer community.

compassionate client support

We prioritize compassionate care that meets you where you are.

clear is kind

We make sure you understand the scope of our work together before money is exchanged, so there aren't any surprises. If you need anything clarified, you can always ask us to explain further.

no stupid questions

We assume you don't know much about taxes or business bookkeeping when you find us, and we won't look down on you for not knowing industry terms. Ask what you need to ask!

money without shame

Stigma around financial literacy isn't welcome in our office. We invite you to be upfront about your needs, fears, and the financial skeletons in your closet. We're here to help.

accessibility + inclusion

We're neurodivergent and queer owned and operated, and supporting these communities is paramount.

neuroqueer economy

Shopping locally keeps money circulating in your community 2-4x longer than shopping with a large corporation. When you can't shop local, shop small (and queer, and neurodiverse).

literacy matters

Financial literacy isn't just for families with generational wealth. Everyone deserves access to financial strategy, professionals, and knowledge. It's a right, not a privilege!

transparent process

Information shouldn't be hidden behind jargon. We want you to understand our financial processes so the stewardship of your money remains in your hands at all times.

tech transparency

As much as we are able, we strive to divest from Big Tech and generative AI. We can't always avoid it, but we can reduce it.

assistive > generative

OLT Pro software uses assistive AI to import data from your documents into your tax return, followed by human review and verification.

This AI is proprietary to OLT and private. Your data is not passed through any third-party providers.

open source

We prefer to employ open-source software rather than publicly traded providers that prioritize shareholder value over user privacy.

We switched to Proton, which is encrypted, ad-free, based in Switzerland, and independently audited for security.

conscious consumers

Data centers are a drain on natural resources and disproportionately impact marginalized communities.

We do not use generative AI of any kind, because fuck that. No Chat, no Gemini, just three auDHDers running on caffeine and dreams.
